This is a careful and deliberate process, initiated only when we have a hound that promises to elevate our breeding program. We typically breed one litter every two to three years, starting our preparations well in advance. Following the Irish Wolfhound Club of America's (IWCA) recommendations, our hounds are subject to Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) comprehensive health screenings from the age of two. This includes evaluations of the heart, hips, elbows, eyes, and patellas (knees), along with genetic testing for Degenerative Myelopathy. With these thorough health checks complete, we look for a mate that compliments our hound's conformation, health, temperament, and personality. All resulting puppies from our planned litters will have Liver Shunt testing done between 9 and 10 weeks old.
