Just a Girls weekend out! (November 10 thru 12, 2017) Intentionally or Unintentionally It was all about being the girls weekend out. Teresa drove the old 1995 RV from central Arkansas to Springfield Missouri and back driving only at night. Ideally should have been a day trip, however that would have been too, safe. We only left the road once when we were tutting along in Harrison a Semi-Tractor Trailer obviously breaking the speed limit when passing caused the air between us to literally blow us off the road. Teresa kept the RV under control never hit a mailbox or sign just a little bumpy going over the curbs. So from that point on Teresa would travel in the left lane through towns with curbs to prevent this from happing again. We had a great weekend just us girls. It was Teresa, Lisa, Zion, Bear and Sassy. Bear after a year off from showing and nearly loosing her in July to Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC), which we may never know the cause. Bear dominated the breed ring both days with Zion's help going Best of Breed, earning her first Grand Champion points (2 majors of 5 points and 2 defeats) Sassy continues to be the reserve queen. All Breed Judges really don't know what to think when it comes to her lack of a rough coat and no furnishings. We will eventually finish her but every point is going to be tough, we love her willingness to keep giving us consistently sound movement and no nonsense time in the ring. Now at 10 points with one major we will be in search of that last major. For now she is getting a well deserved rest after traveling to Wilmington OH, Benton AR and Springfield MO in the span of one months time. All three destinations we drove the RV. Way more convenient and we enjoyed wonderfully cooked meals by Lisa everyday. The dogs were much more relaxed, they also got to role play being guard dogs. We would put up xpens in front of the RV and this seemed to give them permission to bark at anyone or anything passing by. Little do they know..HaHa. Holidays are once again upon us. Hope everyone has a wonderful, joyous and fun packed holiday season. |

INCREDIBLY SAD AND HEARTBREAKING NEWS! We will not be breeding either Sandy or Bear all plans to breed any of the offspring from our Charmed or Lightning Litters have been canceled. We have recently been made aware of a devastating congenital and possible hereditary health issue in this line. We are devastated by the news. There is nothing available today to genetically screen for carriers and the risk is too enormous. Genetically the loss of this line to the wolfhound population is not as significant as it could be if the continued breeding of potential hereditary issues are ignored. Sandy and Bear are in superb health and have the potential of living full healthy lives. We will continue to show them and enter performance events as good representatives of the breed. They will also continue to be loving members of our family. Living out their lives as had always been our goal to breed healthy happy companions. |
